If you love soft light, natural scenery and romantic portraits, an outdoor maternity session may be perfect for you.
Outdoor sessions are typically photographed around golden hour, when the light is soft, warm and flattering.
Depending on the season, maternity photography sessions may also be available at beautiful fields and outdoor locations throughout Toronto and Durham Region, including seasonal sunflower and lavender locations.

The Process
1. Say Hello
Your maternity photography experience begins with getting to know you.
Tell me a little about your pregnancy, your family and the style of maternity portraits you love.
We will discuss your vision and decide whether a studio maternity session in Pickering or an outdoor maternity photoshoot in Toronto or Durham Region is the best fit.
Maternity sessions are generally scheduled between 30 and 34 weeks of pregnancy, when your beautiful bump is visible while you are still comfortable enough to enjoy your session.
Your session date is reserved once your contract is signed and retainer is received.
2. planning
You don't need to arrive knowing how to pose, what to wear or exactly what you want.
I will guide you through the entire process.
Before your session, you will receive information to help personalize your maternity photography experience. Together, we can select your gowns, backdrops and overall style.
Clients also have access to my maternity gown collection, with beautiful dresses specifically selected to photograph beautifully during pregnancy.
Whether you envision something soft and romantic, elegant and dramatic, or simple and timeless, we will design a session around you.
3. session day
This is where the magic happens.
During your maternity session, I will guide you through flattering poses designed to highlight your pregnancy and create beautiful, natural portraits.
You do not need any modelling experience.
I will help with posing, hands, angles, movement and expressions throughout your session so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
Your partner and children can also join your session, creating meaningful family portraits before your newest little love arrives.
Choose between a studio maternity photoshoot in Pickering or an outdoor maternity photography session at one of the beautiful locations available throughout Toronto, Pickering and Durham Region.
4. after the session
After your maternity photoshoot, you will receive an online proof gallery where you can view your portraits and choose your favourites.
Once your selections are submitted, each chosen portrait will receive professional retouching and finishing in my signature style.
Your final maternity portraits will be photographs you can look back on years from now and remember exactly how this chapter of your family's story felt.

I recommend contacting me during your second trimester whenever possible.
Most maternity sessions take place between 30 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. This typically gives us a beautiful, defined baby bump while keeping the session comfortable for you.
Booking earlier also gives us plenty of time to plan your wardrobe, location and overall vision.
Q2: What Should I Wear for Maternity Photos?
You don't need to purchase a special dress just for your maternity photoshoot.
Clients have access to my carefully selected maternity gown collection, with options designed to photograph beautifully and flatter your changing body.
During the planning process, I can help you choose your gowns and coordinate clothing for your partner and children.
The goal is to create a cohesive look while keeping the focus exactly where it belongs — on you and this beautiful season of your life.
Q3: Do you provide maternity gowns for my photoshoot?
Yes! Maternity photography clients have access to my collection of beautiful maternity gowns and dresses.
I will help you choose gowns that complement your style, body and the overall look you envision for your session.
You are also welcome to bring your own outfit if there is something special you would love to wear.
Q4: Where do maternity photography sessions take place?

Location recommendations will depend on the season and the look you envision for your maternity portraits.
Q8: How far in advance should I book my maternity photographer?
I recommend booking your Toronto or Pickering maternity photography session during your second trimester.
Weekend dates and popular outdoor locations can book several weeks or months in advance, particularly during spring, summer and fall.
Booking early also gives us more time to plan your wardrobe, maternity gowns, location and session style.

Yes! Many families choose to book both their maternity and newborn photography sessions with Memories by Alexa Photography.
